The Biblical Focus of Glad Tidings
We believe in living the principles and teachings of Liberty and Grace as taught by Jesus Christ and the Apostles. That is why Glad Tidings is a Church of Liberty and Grace.
The Bible tells us that Liberty is:
1. found where the Spirit of God is.
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2 Corinthians 3:17
2. one of the reasons Jesus came.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19
3. what we have as Children of God.
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Romans 8:21
4. what makes us free.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1
5. the reason we are no longer to be entangled in bondage.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1
6. the perfect law.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 1:25
Practically, Liberty is:
1.
the freedom to live your life based on faith and God’s Word instead of trying to satisfy the judging spirits of those who can only condemn others because of their weak faith
1 Corinthians 8
2. the equality given to women by Jesus Christ to benefit society and to be used by God in the Church.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. …There is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:27-29
3. the birth of a new people, neither Jew nor Gentile, but a new creation called the Church.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek…For ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:27-29
4. the free access to God through Christ that is freely given to all people regardless of social, national, political, racial, gender, or other status in society.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, …for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:27-29
5. not dependant on our own works and rule keeping, but is based solely on the work of Christ on Calvary.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
6. a Church of faith that believes all things are possible and that the Church should help people succeed in every area of their life.
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mark 9:23
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mark 11:22-24
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
